What is your role in the business?
Founder and Drector.

What are your areas of expertise?
Working with small to medium sized businesses with a really good understanding of what makes their numbers tick and with a real emphasis on looking forward rather than backwards. Combine that with my law background – which I read at Bristol – and I have a really good understanding of legal issues and numbers, a good combination. So I often get involved in legal documents / contracts.

What do you enjoy about your work?
The sheer variety, face to face time with people and whilst we could do what we virtually, I always prefer to go to client’s premises and work from there. My measure of success as an outside FD is ‘do I get invited to the Christmas Party’?! Clients have ranged from lawyers to football agents to staffing agents. All of my clients tend to be people businesses and that’s where I get my buzz.

Where were you born?
Pinner in Middlesex.

What are your hobbies / interests?
Rugby has been a constant throughout my life – played at school (Merchant Taylors, Northwood in Middlesex), played a bit at University and then really more involved as a spectator until I got into coaching at Andover Rugby Club in 2002. Dan is my eldest son and played at Andover. I coached and referred until 2014 – got my badges and loved it. I have been a Harlequins season ticket holder throughout – that eats up a lot of our time (my wife and I). We go all over the UK and follow them abroad when we get the chance! I love reading also and good food and wine.

Do you have a favourite sports team?
Harlequins RFC.

Who inspires you?
Ian Robertson – very knowledgeable and so well respected throughout rugby.
